From the Shocker Toys discussion (page 17) on the Lying in the Gutters forum at Comic Book Resources:
I've a serious question here, because I suspect a very, very bad answer. Actually no, I don't have a question. This is pretty clear.
I own a comic store. I've never divulged my store or who I am on CBR, since I like being able to roam a bit with some anonymity, and I just like to be able to chime in now and then.
I received this email...
Hello,
I am in the area and would like to know if you are going to be carrying the Indie Spotlight comic book heroes action figures by company Shocker Toys. I saw them in the Diamond Previews catalog and I am interested in getting The whole series and (maybe the variants). Will you be stocking these so I can get them when they come in? Or can I order them through Diamond Previews through you?
Any info would be helpful, thanks
George
EMAIL ADDRESS WITHELD BY GCOM
My store is on the East coast of the United States. I network with other retailers across the country. It seems that a number of other retailers, some in California, New York, Maryland, and elsewhere have received the EXACT same email.
Pretty roaming guy, this George.
My suspicion is that this is a scam by Shocker Toys to drum up some business. At this point, no, I won't be ordering any product from this company, due to perceived fraudulent practices on their part. I also find the quality of the toys extremely lacking.
This conduct from a company is not something I will associate with. This industry, and people in general, have enough problems without this kind of thing going on.
